Application Engineer, System Administrator

We are our expanding our product services teams and are looking for an experienced System Administrator / Application Engineer. We are looking for a motivated self-starter who is passionate about Linux, Networking and Internet technologies. Our ideal candidate has proven experience in troubleshooting enterprise applications and has a strong familiarity with both Java servlets and web applications. We are looking for a candidate with a minimum 3 years of hands-on system administration experience in a Linux/Unix environment, or equivalent support/analyst position. Experience in an ASP/SaaS business models a plus, CCNA preferred but not required. This position reports to Vice President of Products and Technology.

Responsibilities

  • Support Operations group and end users in top-level troubleshooting
  • Network, server and application monitoring
  • OS upgrade/patch planning and implementation
  • Server and Network Troubleshooting and performance tuning
  • Backup and restoration
  • Participate in an on call escalation rotation
  • Hardware planning, installation and configuration
  • Document and present system architecture for new systems to clients, management and development teams

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of directly related work experience, ideally in the online advertising industry or in the web-hosting field
  • Strong knowledge and practical working skill with the following technologies: Java servlets, Apache, Tomcat, MySQL
  • Solid and demonstrated TCP/IP, Routing and Load Balancing knowledge
  • Knowledge and proven understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Rich Media
  • Excellent writing skills, to communicate information effectively to customers, marketing, executives, and technical staff
  • Proactive, collaborative, and high-energy attitude;strong team player
  • Strong understanding and interest in technology, the digital sector, new and emerging media formats
  • Strong BASH, PERL and PHP scripting skills
